Hi. I have 2x advance tickets for the 09:46 Cross Country service from Leuchars this Friday (16th Feb), with a change at Edinburgh then Birmingham, purchased from the forums own website. Not sure is it's 100% relevant, but there is a ticket split at Edinburgh.

Just checking the journey this evening, it appears there is industrial action at Craigentinney this week and the 09:46 will start short at Edinburgh. If relevant, I booked the tickets on 25th Jan and the national rail article is dated 23rd Jan - https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service-disruptions/xc-ia-20240123/

I contacted CrossCountry via social media who advised "We post the information here and it will likely be available by 0400 on the day; https://www.journeycheck.com/crosscountry/" Assuming they will suggest the next available service, I will miss the connection in Edinburgh. My journey will be 7+ hours already and I'd prefer to arrive on time rather than get delay repay.

Just checking the forums site again now, it will still sell me a ticket for the 09:46 this Friday with no mention of the industrial action. Is the train running or not!?!

If it is foreseeable that you would be delayed by over 60 mins, you can ask XC if they can allow you to travel earlier, in order to reduce/avoid the chance of a delay.

If the relevant operators refuse to allow you to do so with your original tickets, and if you are charged for a new ticket, due to "acceptance" not being in place, you are entitled to claim this back from XC.

Alternatively, you do have the option of a refund and to book a more suitable alternative; this might be less hassle and give you greater peace of mind, however it may cost you more, and you are not in any way obligated to pay any more money to do this.

If you wish to further reduce the risk of delay, the forum's site does have 'advanced options' which enables you to specify additional interchange time (which is added onto the minimum times) at any relevant interchange stations of your choice.

Thanks for your advice @yorkie. The next departure from Leuchars (9:56) would get me to my final destination 66 minutes later according to the journey planner. I’ll be asking CrossCountry for an earlier departure then- 09:22.
