Advance ticket from Heathrow underground

Hi all,

does anyone know if I can catch the Elizabeth line to make a connection to Euston? https://www.brfares.com/!faredetail?orig=ZHJ&dest=RUN&rte=515&tkt=V2W

The Avanti journey planner is just vaguely telling me to 'get the tube' from Heathrow underground to Euston whereas national rail is suggesting to get the Piccadilly. I'd rather avoid the piccadilly line and get the Elizabeth line if it's a permitted route as its a bit quicker and less sweaty but it's not really clear if I'm allowed to considering the Elizabeth line isn't technically a tube line.

That ticket is only valid on the tube from Heathrow.

It's the same thing; it's just that NRE has some custom data regarding lines.

If you want to travel from the National Rail station, you should book from "Heathrow Rail", or the relevant terminal e.g. "Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3" etc.

If you want to exclude the Heathrow Express, the forum's ticketing site will show slower cheaper options on Elizabeth Line as well as the faster HX options, but you can exclude HX as an operator in the advanced options.

TfL deem Elizabeth Line to be a "tube line" between Paddington and Stratford / Abbey Wood. It is deemed to not be a "tube line" west of Paddington. The line changes categorisation in order to maximise the prices charged.

Be careful when booking Advance tickets if arriving from a flight; I personally typically allow 3 hours between scheduled arrival into Heathrow T5 and departure from King's Cross. For T2/3 to Euston via Elizabeth Line, you could get that down to maybe 2.5 hours (assuming a normal timetable), but any less than that could be putting a travel insurance claim at risk.

It can be worth planning to visit a pub en-route if your plane is on time, and skip the pub if you are late.

Thanks both! It's a shame booking it from the other Heathrow stations is adding £15 to the ticket but I'll have to get over it and get the tube haha. Thanks for the heads up on flights, I'd only planned to have a 2hr gap so it sounds like I should get the next train instead and get a morning beer while I wait

What are your journey requirements? Do you have any Railcards?

Is this just a single journey, and have you checked the forum ticketing site?

Another option is to just book from Euston, and use Contactless to travel to Euston. Depending on how much time you have spare, and what time you are travelling, you can do the journey to Euston from £3.60 (undiscounted). If you are in a rush, you can take Heathrow Express.

For T5 to King's Cross, I take Piccadilly or Hex as Elizabeth Line is the worst of both worlds, however if your journey is T2/3 to Euston then EL makes a lot more sense (changing at Tottenham Court Road)

Yeah I have a 16-25 railcard and was using trainsplit, just looking for a advance single on the 5th September and going from T2.

That's a good option, it looks like I can book it direct from Euston 08:41 - Runcorn 10:43 for £15.30 and use my oyster for the EL instead
