Hi.Appoligies for bringing up the topic of Advance tickets which is probably been covered loads of times already. Is it possible to change/excess a Advance ticket to a Standard (any permitted) single? I believe the manual states you cant excess to a any permitted single and then travel on another TOC.However are you allowed to excess providing you still stick to the same TOC's route.I'm assuming the original advance ticket would still be required for inspection on the train, which would provide the route details.

AFAIK the rules are that you can excess up to a walk-up fare + admin fee, or purchase a new ticket if this is cheaper.

You must also do get the excess before your booked train departs, because after that the ticket is useless

Yes, that's right. A £10 admin fee appplies, details are in the 'Advance Fares FAQ' - a copy of which is in our RailUK Guide to Fares & Ticketing .
