Advance Ticket Cross Country train Cancelled

Hello,

My friend has an advance ticket on the 16:30 Cross Country train tomorrow from Birmingham New Street to Cardiff Central, but all the Birmingham - Cardiff trains for tomorrow seem to be cancelled. Travelling via Bristol Parkway and changing there onto GWR looks like an option, but presumably an advance ticket for XC wouldn't automatically be valid that way? Does anyone know if he can use his advance ticket to travel that way tomorrow?

XC is still obliged to get him to Cardiff. He should speak to a staff member to make sure that his tickets will be accepted.

If you go to cross country journey check website and click on line updates you will see this disruption is covered and there is ticket acceptance in place on TFW between Cheltenham and Cardiff and GWR between Bristol Temple Meads or Parkway and Cardiff. This is published acceptance so don't need to ask. Catch a Cross country train as near to you advance ticket time as possible from Birmingham new street that would allow you to connect to one of these ticket acceptance routes onto Cardiff.

My recommendation would be 16.40 Cross Country from Birmingham New Street (Bristol Temple Meads service), changing at Bristol Parkway for the 18.01 GWR (Swansea service), arriving into Cardiff 18.34, which is only 12 minutes behind your original train
