I bought one today - £11.90 with Y-P originally expecting the ticket to be 1st class, as on their website and NRES' the cheapest STD adv was £8.80 and the cheapest 1st adv should have been this ticket. I told the man at the ticket office this, who could not find any 1st advance fares for the journey at all and checked the NFM to make sure it existed.

The ticket type came up there as being 1BS which if you hover over the ticket on the NRES site and also EMT's also shows this, the leaked Advantix also says the same:

The ticket says STD on it though and the seat is booked in coach E and the 19:37 should be a HST so this should be a standard class seat. So I am wondering why and if this is a problem as a result of the Advance renaming and standardisation.

Where did you buy it?

I'd have bought it online if online was offering it as 1st...

Thats what I got online. Coach G is FC. So yes it is a FC ticket.

Looks like you bought at the station a SC ticket for the same price you could have got a FC ticket :(

The staff at Sheffield ticket office aren't the best in the World for selling you the most appropriate ticket for your journey. I have had staff there tell me that Groupsave does not exist on EMT journeys, and also that railcards cannot be used for plusbus tickets. It is obvious they are overcharging a huge amount of customers.

Only a few days ago at Sheffield a member of staff could not sell me an NXEC 1st open return from Doncaster to Newcastle with a dsb railcard (£60.05) instead wanting to sell me the 'all operator' FOR at £89.10 because she couldn't find it on the system. I had bought one at Sheffield before, and when I went to Doncaster later in the day the ticket office staff sold me one with no trouble.

I'd suggest you contact EMT about the problem. Their customer relations team are usually very good and might try to be able to do something for you, especially if you show them the screenshot and a copy of your ticket.

Whitton, however there doesn't appear to be an SC ticket for that price and there weren't any on the system, so I don't know how it happened.

I couldn't buy online as waiting on a new debit card. Just wondering where that price comes from as it shouldn't exist?
