I am planning a trip for August, traveling between August 8-9. I would like to know how far in advance I can make seat reservations for TGV services in France. I understand there is a reservation quota for passholders. I would like to optimize my choice of seats to ensure getting a window seat. Thank you.

I think there is no longer a fixed quota for Eurail or Interrail pass holders though of course there do need to be seats left, but there are two price levels so booking early can save money.

At least last time I looked:
10 Euro reservations can sell out (not sure if they have a specific quota or are just linked to a particular price being available for regular tickets - I'd guess at the latter)
20 Euro reservations are available until the train is sold out.

For domestic TGV there is a limited number of €10 passholder reservations, once these are gone it is €20 until the train is full.

The booking window id around 4 months, it is listed somewhere on the website.

In 2nd class you can only request a seat type and hope they oblige.

In 1st the same applies, regular tickets can choose from a seat plan on SNCF website or app but nowhere that sells passholder reservations has this option. However once bought you can use your booking reservation on the TGV Inoui Pro app to change your booking and select seats from a plan.

Best option to book seats was www.raileurope.com but they have recently added a booking fee so not sure there is any website now that doesn't add fees.

SNCF have a web page where you can look up when reservations open. Domestic TGVs can currently be booked until 3/7; reservations until 30/8 will open on 11/3.
