Presently the only confirmed HS2 stock will be the 54 built by the Alstom-Hitachi joint venture based on the Zefiro platform. But on many high-speed rail networks across the world it is very rarely the case that the network has a uniform rolling stock and instead has multiple kinds of trains, sometimes by different manufacturers. Japan, France, Italy, Spain and China all have different variants of their flagship fleet on their networks, and the only exception I can think of is Taiwan high speed rail, and even that will soon be receiving new rolling stock based on the N700 Shinkansen. So with that mind, should demand increase, or should new open access operators seek paths using the route, could HS2 see additional rolling stock during it's years of operations? If so which kind of rolling stock might we see and from who could we see it?

It depends on what new routes are opened and how much of Curzon Street's capacity (and how Euston is built) is utilised by the "old" network - NR are looking at how to utilise the unused capacity at Curzon Street moving forward, although the issue of what trains can go there on the existing networks that are overcrowded is a challenge
