Accidental Railcard fraud

Hello, first time posting apologies for any errors,
I booked a ticket for my friend with my valid railcard not realising it was non-transerrable and now she has been given a TIR by SWR. I've read online there are possibilities of either a settlement or the issue being actually taken to court. She was polite and honest about the issue when confronted and will repsond promplty, poltielty and honestly when contacted by SWR. Is there anything else we can really do? Is there a chance she won't be offered a settlement?

Did she carry any railcard and show it on the journey? Did she use yours?

Which railcard is it?

SWR usually settle out of court for simple cases but they may well audit the ticket purchasing accounts and have more questions for you or her before doing so.

There isn't much you can do until she recieves a letter from SWR. The best advice would be to read through other SWR threads on here to understand what might happen next. When the letter arrives, post it on here with personal details redacted.

SWR are likely to agree to settle out of court, provided you are cooperative and truthful when you respond to them.

Unless the railcard you have is one of the types that has no photo on it:
Saying that you did not know the ticket was non-transferable has zero credibility when the railcard has your photo on it. What did you think the photo was for, apart from showing on the train to prove that the ticket holder was entitled to the discount?

Don't attempt to try and use this as an excuse when she replies to to SWR since they will not believe it.

We haven't ascertained what type of railcard it is yet. Not all railcards carry a photo.
