The DfT have issued a written statement updating about Access for All upgrades on 15 Jan 26:

The 8 projects are progressing directly to delivery:

Ash Vale, Colchester, Port Sunlight, Thirsk, Walton (Merseyside), Aigburth (already in delivery), Rock Ferry (already in delivery).

The 23 projects are progressing to detailed design:

Battle, Bodmin Parkway, Bredbury, Castle Cary, Dalston Kingsland, Dorchester South, Esher, Falkirk Grahamston, Flowery Field, Gunnersbury, Hedge End, High Brooms, Kew Bridge, Kidbrooke, Marden, Newton for Hyde, Raynes Park, Ruabon, Shotton, Swanwick, Ulverston, Wymondham, Yeovil Junction

The decision not to progress with Ledbury seems very poor to me as it's quite a tortuous process to use a taxi from Hereford to Ledbury. It's about 30 minutes with no traffic but many trains are scheduled for just 15. You can double back via Colwall of course, or a taxi be offered from Colwall, but this adds even further time on and leaves you to wait at an unstaffed station with no facilities. Of course back in the day it would have been permitted to use the foot crossing.

Sleaford towards either Lincoln or Grantham if you are making a long-distance journey is also poor with a long leg to go by road before you can access a train. You could use Ruskington of course but again unstaffed stations aren't preferred, and that's of no help if you're going to London or Nottingham.

While there is a degree of step free access already at Upminster and Neath these stations are heavily used and again it's disappointing to see them deprioritised as so many people could have benefited.

Dalston Kingsland is HUGE. I’ve never seen a station used by a higher proportion of older and disabled people and yet no step free access, to a very busy station with quite a lot of space to work with and with quite a new ticket hall too. I hope the lifts are big, they will be very well used.

Are there any timeframes for any of these stations?
