Quite sad that they have gone for BR blue I mean the livery isn't way too important but it would be nice to see some more mainline intercity machines.
Although id go for the first livery with the black wrap arounds on the cab myself :)

I'd have thought that blue was chosen for the following reason
To match the irrelevant can ;) (86101) and to match the Cargo-D rake...for those who don't know Cargo-D and ACLG/ETL/ETS (whatever they want to be called this week) have a partnership for the supply of electric traction for charters and the like (Hull Trains is a prime example).

It's also worth noting that FM Rail had the rights to the Intercity brand (so now presumably their receivers/administrators/debtors) so it may not be available for use without incurring a fee...however I'm willing to be corrected on that point.

Ah right didn't know Fm rail had right's to the intercity brand I would have thought being just another BR livery that it would be like BR blue and there isn't specific rights.

But definatly all good reasons shame I have to aggree and not fight for intercity.

..only problem being no VWC drivers still officially sign them and retraining is not an option (bang goes the farewell for the Mk3 set with a proper loco then!) unless a long term deal for the Mk3 set is sorted (at present it runs out in December along with the contract with EWS for the 90).
Quite correct, VWC drivers In my area were forced to strike them off the list, along with 86's & 90's on the total introduction of pendo's.

Oh & it looks like the Mk3 set will end running in december for good, the set needs a full overhaul which of course VWC are not willing to do by the looks of it. According to a few insiders I know they are looking at maybe a certain DMU replacement. :(

As for livery on 87002, Large logo blue!
