[locomotive] Nordic ReFinance: 15 TMe diesel locomotives for Hungarian state railways
Hungary is trying to increase the volume of goods and passengers using its railways. So far, it has implemented successful measures, but now it needs to strengthen its fleet of diesel locomotives in addition to electric locomotives. From Denmark via Sweden to HungaryEfforts to get more people
MÁV Rail Tours can lease a maximum of 15 locomotives for five years, with the first two expected in late June. The lease period can be extended through options. The locomotives will undergo a repaint before entering service. They are equipped with ergonomic seats for the drivers, air conditioning for both cabs, and a camera system for the view outside. Nordic ReFinance has declared the carrier’s high operational reliability at 94%.
Yet, the locomotives first must go through an authorization process in Hungary and get Mirel VZ1 safety equipment. Further locomotives can be delivered from September and all 15 will be available by the end of 2024. The locomotives are expected to operate on the lines around Lake Balaton and in the west of Hungary.
However, it is almost the end of July, but the Nordic Re-Finance Diesels still haven’t arrived. What is causing such delays?
