Does anyone know if there will be any workings down the Aberdeen Waterloo branch in the next few days?

My girlfriend's flat is right next to it and was hoping to get some pics!

The trains going down there tend to turn round quite quickly - if your girlfriend's flat is right next to it then you will not miss the sound of the train going down to Waterloo, and so will easily be able to get a picture of it coming back again. The number of containers it carries tends to vary between 3 and 12, although I have once seen the loco going down there by itself.

I don't know where the train actually goes to (the line joins the Aberdeen-Inverness line at a junction where trains can only head northbound, but that isnt much of a clue as the train could still in theory go to anywhere on the network) but would be interested in finding out myself.

Also, I don't know about the timings for next week but there is usually more than one train per week. I've seen/heard the train on most of the days of the week but Mondays and Saturdays seem to be the most common days. I don't keep record of it though.

Arrives Aberdeen 15:35 and departs 16:06
Arrives Kittybrewster 16:12 and reverses to Waterloo at 16:16
Arrives Waterloo at 16:30

Waterloo - Mossend
Tuesdays or Thursdays, as required
Usually departs Aberdeen right behind the 14:55 Kings Cross HST
The trip working could be any time in the morning

Usual load is tanker wagons

I know the track layout at Kittybrewster that trains from the south need to reverse. What facilities are at the Waterloo end?

Nothing, it is just a piece of land that ends in a buffer stop
The wagons are then deposited there

In the 1980s and 1990s it used to be up to five TEA style wagons
Usual load is mud for the oil industry
However I do remember once seeing a load of pipes
A train arrived from Millerhill and over the next three days there were trip workings backwards and forwards to move them
Seemed rather strange that they were simply not offloaded at Guild Street on to HGV
Equally, they could perform this at Craiginches

Ok, so correct me if Im wrong the load is mud held in tank wagons and return empties?
