ScotRail have suspended trains on the Aberdeen to Inverness line today, they're advertising ticket acceptance on Stagecoach service 10 but not apparently on the M96, I feel like the M96 would be a better substitution for the train as it more closely matches the journey time of the train?

Is it all services that have been suspended?

From what I could see on the ScotRail website, most of the cancellations on the line were the Inverness to Elgin shuttles, with a couple of exceptions.

Journeycheck gives more information on alternatives:

We have arranged for your rail tickets to be accepted on local bus routes at no extra cost.
Stagecoach North:
* 10: Inverness - Nairn - Forres - Elgin - Keith - Huntly - Inverurie - Dyce - Aberdeen
* 10B: Inverness - Nairn - Forres - Elgin - Keith - Huntly - Inverurie - Dyce - Aberdeen.
* (31): Elgin - Forres
* 35: Elgin - Dyce - Aberdeen
Rail Replacement Transport..
We have the following transport confirmed.
0614 Aberdeen to Inverness - x1 JD Peace full size coach
0718 Aberdeen to Inverness - x1 JD Peace full size coach
0823 Aberdeen to Inverness - x1 JD Peace full size coach
1008 Aberdeen to Inverness - x1 JD Peace full size coach
1056 Inverness to Aberdeen - x1 JD Peace full size coach
1157 Aberdeen to Inverness - x1 Kineil full size coach
1238 Inverness to Aberdeen - x1 JD Peace full size coach
1341 Aberdeen to Inverness - x1 Kineil full size coach
1427 Inverness to Aberdeen - x1 JD Peace full size coach
1535 Inverness to Aberdeen - x1 JD Peace full size coach
1713 Inverness to Aberdeen - x1 Kineil full size coach
1801 Inverness to Aberdeen - x1 Kineil fulll size coach
Consider travelling later..
Customers who want to postpone travel can use their tickets dated Thursday 21st December for up to 2 days after disruption ends.
There are rail replacements doing the full journey, so I suspect that advice to use the 10/B is for people making shorter journeys.

All Aberdeen - Inverness services (including the Elgin starters/terminators) were cancelled from start of service this morning due to the high winds. They were planned cancellations before 22:00 last night so might not show up in journey planners. The only services on the line that did run as booked were locals between Aberdeen/Inverurie but these were also heavily disrupted from about 11:30 due to a fallen tree. The whole line reopened between Aberdeen and Inverness at about 15:30 this afternoon.

Ah, okay, fair enough. The ScotRail website could be a bit clearer about this, though. Only specific journeys are mentioned (as alterations when they are actually cancellations)!

Another reason for tickets not being accepted on the M96 is possibly because it's bookable, and may actually be busy with people who had planned to take the train but hadn't yet bought tickets.
