Aberdeen to Bangor (and return to Macclesfield)

Advice requested on best fares

From Aberdeen to Durham (14th) and on to Bangor (17th) then from Bangor to Macclesfield (19th).

Would be looking at leaving all three cities at around 10-11am or so.

Hold DIS, and could also have the return half of a Macclesfield - Manchester Airport Anytime Short Return if it helps.

On the 14th, you could get the 0952 Aberdeen to London train as far as Newcastle, and then change there for Durham. A discounted Aberdeen-Durham Advance would be about £36. You could possible save a couple of pounds by buying separate Advance tickets for Aberdeen-Haymarket, and Haymarket-Newcastle (staying on the 0952 throughout), and then a discounted single for Newcastle-Durham.

On the 17th, a discounted Durham-Bangor (N Wales) Advance would cost from around £27. (Just buying Durham-Macclesfield would cost around £25, plus a Macclesfield-Bangor return at £31.15).

On the 19th, for about £16 you can get a Bangor-Chester Advance, and a Chester-Stockport single, and then use your existing ticket for Stockport-Macclesfield.

Total from £76.

Advance tickets need to be booked in advance (asap given the dates involved) and valid only on the trains you specify when booking the tickets.

I too would suggest splitting the ABD NCL NCL at Haymarket, bare in mind you have 3 TOCs serving Durham and they are quite competative on price so shop around.
