Aberdeen - Manchester

Hello, Would very much like some help please.

Travelling on the afternoon/evening of Sunday 8th sept and returning afternoon on wednesday 11th or 12th (Still undecided which day to come back) No railcards, 1 adult passenger.

Ive mananged to find this route £54.60
Advance £11.30

Depart:Aberdeen dep. 13:31
Arrive:Glasgow Queen Street, 16:13

Advance £16.00
Depart:Glasgow Central dep. 17:06
Change at:Manchester Victoria arr. 20:23
Bus dep. 20:33

Returning

Can anyone find anything cheaper/better please?

That's a good price, unlikely to be beaten, and you are right that 'splitting' in Manchester can indeed be cheaper.

I'd be surprised if it's cheaper travelling via Newcastle or on Virgin via Glasgow, though you could explore those options if you wish.

I don't know that I would trust a 15min connection in Glasgow northbound.
I know you can do it on the ground but punctuality into Central from the WCML is not great.

From an earlier posting, 30 minutes is the minimum you'd need to leave in your connection to allow Advances to be linkable - ie late into GLC so late out of GLQ

And personally I'd have a printout of the NR journey planner showing the two trains if I'd bought separate advances for them.

Sorry for the delay, Thank you everyone for your replies. I had over looked the two Glasgow stations ARR/DEP times. I'll have another gander at them. Coach at the moment is looking slightly cheaper but the train is quicker. Thank you again.
