Aberdeen Drivers

I'm currently in the mix for an Aberdeen trainee drivers position. I would be grateful for any information regarding rosters, routes, traction in fact anything really! May be of use in any interview and would obviously be of interest.

Ok, having spent 2 nights in ABD at the weekend, while on railtour duty, I have gleaned this from fellow Stewards and the exceptionally friendly Drivers of Aberdeen.

Traction: Class 158, 170, 67. Possibly odd few trained on Class 43 (apparently for cover purposes)

Routes: Inverness, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fife Circle

Rosters: One turn is a Night Shunter job. Apparently rather dull, mainly coupling/uncoupling units and taking them to/from Clayhills! Another is a mid-morning trip to Edinburgh and a Fife Circle run before returning north. Can't comment on the rest.

Aberdeen drivers don't touch 67s or 43s. DB men work the 67s that haul the sleepers and the EC lodge drivers shunt the HST rakes to/from Clayhills as part of their turn of duty. Also EC have their own fitters based at Clayhills that do minor repairs to Scotrail units


Aberdeen drivers will sign Aberdeen - Perth - Glasgow. Aberdeen - Dundee - Edinburgh. Aberdeen - Inverness. The Fife Circle and also i think they sign Ladybank - Perth now for diversions, but up until fairly recently they didnt sign this route.
