Just been looking at Traksy for some research for the Valley lines, and saw a second platform at Aberdare that said "from 2024". It looks to be on a loop south of the station (see below), and there seems to be no mention of this on Wikipedia.

I had a look on RealTime Trains, however although it exists as a location, nothing is scheduled to serve it, even from a look at as far away as November.

I just wondered if platform 1 will still be served and the use of such a platform just down from another that currently seems to be sufficient?

Thanks for any help regarding this!

When the line goes up to 4 trams per hour, Platform 2 will be used to terminate a tram with platform 1 used as the departure platform with the trams doing an ECS shunt from P2 to P1.

Ah, thanks. When will this roughly be?

As far as I’m aware both have been kicked into the long grass.

It was a dynamic loop mid way, not full double track I think.
I thought it was from immediately beyond Dingle Rd to just short of Penarth (so no second platform was planned at Dingle Rd). I recall seeing that clearance work had started, so that’s a very late change to pull the work.

A dynamic loop yes, how dynamic it would of been is a good question.
