Hi everyone this is my first post here and I was hoping that some of the knowledgeable folk here could help.

I applied for the position in the title the applications for which closed on Friday (28/09). I was disappointed to receive a rejection e-mailed on Monday morning and assumed that there was something glaring in my application that got me sifted out at the first stage (the only obvious thing I could think of was the lack of a driving license?). However I see that the position has now been reopened. Incidentally the trainee driver positions (Mallaig etc.) have been withdrawn.

It seems from a few comments on this forum that this is not uncommon. I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this? Also does anyone have any tips from the application or further information about the role?

Unless you live within walking distance of your depot, outside of London it's very hard to get to work at the extreme ends of the day without a car.....

It's not that I think a driving license would be essential for the job (although it would be helpful given how remote the region is) it's that I can't see what else on my application is likely to have seen me sifted out so quickly. (Applications closed on Friday I had a rejection e-mail at 1000 on Monday morning). It seems to me however given that the job was re-advertised on Tuesday that all applications were rejected for some reason and that from reading various threads on this forum this seems to be quite a common occurence, I hope this is the case anyway.

At the moment I cannot re-apply as it is saying that I have been rejected within the last 20 days and that I can't re-apply until the 17th October. In the meantime I will keep my fingers crossed that applications don't close early and that there isn't some major problem with my skills/experience that make me completely unsuited for the role.
