Why have Abellio Greater Anglia's class 360s not seen new seat covers or carpets since they were built now over ten years ago?

I am not blaming the TOCs but questioning Siemens.. Weren't they supposed to work in conjunction with the operators (three of them to date) to maintain the units similarly to the SWT/Siemens arrangement which seems very effective (they are always immaculate and currently receiving new carpeting)

I have seen shocking photos of worn seats which I have never encountered on other desiros

I realise they will now receive new seat covers as a remedial action plan which abellio admits Siemens will assist with... Just took them a while

I don't think they came on the same sort of maintenance package that SWT / LM / TPE / FGW Have though, whereby they return back to a Siemens depot almost each night which is part of the build/maintain contract. Or it there ever was one, it would have appeared to have ended with FGE Days, unfortunately with the TOC letting them get into the state that they've become in.

We're talking about 10 year old trains. They need a refresh.

Although the 444s and 450s aren't as bad, they are beginning to look tatty.

Apparently SWT are starting a refresh of the 450s which includes replacing seat covers "where necessary", so it looks like it will be a patchwork job like is taking place on the 455s currently.

Talking about tatty desiro's.... Recently I've seen a few 450s with a yellowing patches of the paintwork on the roofline, presumably the paint hasn't lasted for whatever reason, how come ive yet to see this on 444s or any electrostar stock?

Would be interesting to see if they replace appreciably fewer of the middle seat covers on the rows of three. That would give some evidence to support or discredit the view that people tend not to use those seats.

Surely it's rather obvious that the centre seats get less use unless the trains are always fully loaded. If we knew how much of the time each coach was loaded above it's seating capacity, the relative wear on the seats would be meaningful.

Apart from the obvious of no corridor connection at the ends of the units, is there any other differences between the 360s and the 350s?

No small toilet on 360s, only the large one under the pantograph.
First class at both ends of the unit, the section between cab and first passenger doors, rather than in one of the intermediate coaches.
Maybe the number of guards controls in the saloon.

Southern are retimming all seats in their Electrostars of a similar age. Must better than the patchwork approach.

I think it is down to the paint on the blue roofs on 450s oxidising. It shows less on the white 444s and the dark grey roofed leccystars
