Just wondering what the policy versus delay repay, as in some situations it is better to just give up the journey rather then wait for a connecting train.
A couple of examples,
Rural trains when you have missed the connection from the mainline, you can sometimes need to wait 2 hours until the next train.
General delays when you are nearly at home, where you have missed the connection and the next services is 1 hour away. (But you could get a taxi, as it would get you home in 20 minutes)
I was just wondering what I should claim for when you do the latter, as the railway hasn’t got me to my destination (but I chose to abandon my journey). Should I claim delay repay on the arrival time as I had stuck with the train. Or ask for a refund because I didn’t complete my journey. The reason I ask is because I scanned my bar-code at the station I took the taxi from. (So no scan will be recorded at my destination). The Taxi was actually less money then the delay repay compensation so in a sensible work the railway could have paid for the taxi everyone would be a winner.
the specific journey was Edinburgh - Welwyn Garden City last night (1730 ex Edinburgh). The connection onto the 2209 Stevenage - Welwyn Garden City which was missed by about 5 minutes. As anyone local would know getting a taxi is preferable to sitting at Stevenage for 1 hour.
