Hi all,

Yesterday I was due to travel on the 1731 Newport-Chester (WAG/Gerald) in 1st on an Advance ticket costing £40.

However, due to flooding and the poor probability of actually making it to Newport I chose to abandon that plan and instead bought a new ticket North on a different route. The 1731 was later cancelled anyway.

I believe you are entitled to a refund in this scenario, however is that still the case on an advance ticket? (GC did this for me once) When I go on to the ATW website it says you can't get a refund on an advance ticket?

Obviously, I don't want to submit a delay repay form as I never actually made the journey. What should I do, write to them or have I simply got no case here?

Yes, you are entitled to full refund on an advance ticket without any admin fee if one of your booked trains is delayed or cancelled and you choose not to travel. You need to return the ticket to the retailer you purchased the ticket from.
