Aaargh, the waiting is killing me. Advice please.

Hi,

Late last year I went through the whole application process with Northern for a Trainee Driver position in Leeds. I was informed I passed everything and the final step was basically to allocate the courses, who gets in them and who goes into the talent pool. I was told that I would know within 3 weeks. It's now been 6 weeks. I had a phone call the week before last and they told me I would know by last week. Obviously, this hasn't happened.

So the question is, do I chase them up again? I don't want to pester them, but then it's driving me up the wall doing nothing but checking my emails every 30 seconds.

Thoughts?

That's another annoyance, there seems to be no available contact number for them. Just an email address, which they occasionally seem to respond to.

There must be some sort of contact number for their HR Dept somewhere on the net, I'm sure if you ask nicely someone would inbox it to you

Two emails you can use, the main one which is the one you only get an occasional response from:

Or you can email the person in HR who deals specifically with traincrew vacancies (or at least used to do so). Worth a try anyway:

I did actually send one to Jill (although her email now says 'Jill Fenton') but she never answered my question.

I've sent another polite follow up to both, hopefully get some sort of update. I don't mind not knowing (that's not true, I definitely do) but I'd just like to know when I'll find out.

That's the HR department. I rang them today. They were very nice too. I would just give them a quick ring, let them know you are still there. As long as you don't call them every day, keep it to every 3-4 weeks then they wont see it as pestering them.
