I am in charge of a group of volunteers who are building a 42 x 16 foot HO Layout at Exporail (The Canadian Railway Museum) in Saint-Constant, Quebec, Canada. Under the main layout we have a small "O" Gauge (1-1/4") loop that is right at eye level for the 3 to 7 year old age group. We would like to run a Thomas the Tank Engine on this loop. Does anyone know if Thomas the Tank was ever made in "O" Gauge? Did anyone ever manufacture the A1X Terrier Class 0-6-0 Tank Locomotive in "O" Gauge? (Possibility for scratch building a Thomas.) If these locomotives exist, can anyone lead me to where I might be able to buy one.

Wouldn't a MR 3F "Jinty" 0-6-0T be better for Thomas, as many Preserved Railways run it as a "Jinty" in a Thomas guise. Bachmann Brassworks do a Jinty in "O" Guage. IIRC, it's available as a kit and RTR.

A London, Brighton & South Coast Railway (LBSCR) Billington E2 0-6-0T would be better, seeing as Thomas The Tank Engine is based on an E2. Sadly, I don't think an E2 has been made in O gauge, just 00. A 3F Jinty would be a better alternative though, as Brandon has stated

Thanks to everyone for your help. I have found several RTR brass Terrier & Jinty models in the £500 to £800 price range. I have also found a Connoisseur Models brass Jinty kit with motor & wheels for about £236. I will talk it over with the rest of the team at the museum before i decide what to do
