Hello. I'm Johnbo.
(Not my real name, obviously.)
A few months ago, I was caught without a ticket on a train. To put it the way Abe Lincoln once did, the experience left me "distressed immeasurably." But it’s sorted now — well, in the process of being sorted. And oddly enough, I’m actually glad it happened.
Why? Because life is strange like that. It takes you down unexpected avenues.
It’s curious how something that begins as a knot of dread — that sinking “oh god, what have I done” — can, over time, become oddly absorbing. You stumble into corners of the internet you never knew existed. You meet Hadders. You start using words like Byelaw 18 in casual conversation. And somewhere along the way, the fear gives way to curiosity, even amusement.
What an oddball community this is — a mix of railway geeks, gurus, worriers, and zealots.
Here’s to you, RailUK Forums.
