Well 86501 caught fire on the WCML which involved the OHLE being isolated and fire crews being sent out so let's just say times up for the whole 86/5 fleet (okay there was only 1).

Next piece of news is http://www.europhoenix.eu/news.php Basically 23 86's have been brought some for use abroad and maybe a few for use in the uk.

On the other hand 86101 was on the mail today (I got the shots thanks to matt)

How is a company buying 23 86s out of store a bad thing?!
Well to gived you some background info im one of those class 86 fans who doesn't care what's best.
But seriously I guess it is a good thing but it fits in withe 86501 incident if I put a bad spin on it.
But really what is the point of even having Electrification with even more pending when all we do is ship our electric loco's to well EASTERN EUROPe.

They said some 86s to Europe, not all. Depends who want them!

But saying that, Crewe have signed a new contract to continue working on Freightliner 86s.

Yeah someone has mentioned 10 years is how long they will keep them running but this is actually beliveable as some of the fleet are being painted into freightliner green.

at this rate they are gonna be around for a long time even longer than most locos even in preservation it is around 50 years now.

What is the state of the 87's?

They look like quite modern locos well more modern than 86's although I do like 86's and I did get on them in the mid to late 80's.

Lol your really trying to prove me wrong.
But what I ment is that there are still a few 86's still in grey and if there actually being repainted then there must be some need for them.

This is true, sorry about trying to prove you wrong. I wasn't trying to (about the livery anyway ;)) I was just saying how some have been in that livery for a while. But yes, some are still in grey but repainting seems to have slowed down. Also as mentioned above, they only have 3 90s in their green livery.

Na it's fine to be honest someone needs to but yeah I see what you mean that they should have been done a while ago.
