First A stock sent for scrap
October 9, 2010
>As the delivery of S stock increases, the first Metropolitan line A stock is being sent for scrap this weekend.
The Metropolitan line is the first underground route to receive air conditioned trains, the first one entering passenger service on August 2nd, with all new trains expected in service by the end of 2011.<

Scrap they may be to you Londoners, but these trains are even now much better than most trains we have in the North.

Add some EV Batteries, which are now becoming much less expensive, and they could do many more years of service on our under invested railways in the North.
A few short lengths of DC electrification to charge the batteries and they could run for miles.
Thanks
