A strange computer problem has just affected my HP Pavilion desktop.

Today, when I was on the Quizzes and Games forum, I typed a station name commencing with "P" and this brought up the "Print" box shortcut and the name typed of the station did not have its commencing letter "P". I have Microsoft Edge on my system with up-to-date Windows.

Can anyone shed any light on the matter?

Perhaps you were accidentally touching the "ctrl" key - ctrl+P = print.

You must have knocked the control (CTRL) key

Control and P is a keyboard shortcut, has been around since before windows 95, and still exists if you don’t want to use mouse version, these quick shortcuts existed before mouse was added

Agree. Possibly the keystrokes were CTRL+P instead of Shift+P.

Occasionally I've seen similar on desktop keyboards in offices - my solution tends to be to press a lot of the keys such as "shift", "ctrl" and "alt" a number of times as the key may have got stuck! Generally the cause is a crumb or something!

There’s also the Sticky Keys functionality, for occasions where you do want to press one key at a time. On Windows pressing Shift 5 times activates it.

Even if it was, don't worry about it. The fact you recognised what had happened and were able to articulate it shows you haven't lost your marbles.

At least you didn't knock a glass of water over on the same table as a not that cheap laptop, causing half the keys to no longer work and currently not being able to find a replacement, thank god for the touchscreen and the on screen keyboard!
