Well.....finally, I saw No. 60009 "Union Of South Africa" again.
As you may know, the A4 is working "The Hadrian" tour down South in place of unavailable V2 No. 4771 "Green Arrow". Now, 60009 was scheduled to make the move from Thornton down to Crew last Thursday. So, in the pouring rain last week.....I went through To Glenrothes very early in the morning to see her go through. After 5 hours, no show....so I went home, only to find it had been canceled 2 or 3 hours after it was due to leave!!!!!! Talk about messing up!!
However, today was more successful. The route stayed the same, going from Thornton to Perth, and then down South, however, the destination changed from Crewe to Carnforth....thus allowing a 2 hour later departure time that last weeks timings. And again, me traveling to Glenrothes and seeing it leave Thornton Yard from an over-bridge about 2 miles away....only a few minutes late:
I was hoping to see it at Perth as well, as it was planned that me and my grandfather would go out in the car and see it at various locations before and at Perth.....but due to unforeseen problems....he could not do the trip today and so hasty arrangements were made for me to go solo to Glenrothes again.....in the process, boosting my confidence with using public railway services on my own ( yes, last Thursday was the first time I used a mainline service, e.g non-heritage, alone!!!!! )
I may post the photos from last week's miserable visit, but yet....the rain adds effects, later on...pending on memory space I have available on fotopic.
