It makes me wonder what kind of organisation lies behind different scammers following the same general line but all slightly differently - and all of them trying it on on our landline.
Chinese, Indian, and Georgian organised crime groups, mainly.

The people you speak to, should you speak to a real person, are often not working entirely voluntarily, either.

I've been getting a few calls recently from "LinkedIn recruitment" about a job offer, and that I should "add (their) number on WhatsApp". Each time is a different variation, but that's the general summary.
Obviously I'm not going to add their number on WhatsApp...

If nothing else, if you've applied for a job through LinkedIn, surely any communication would be through their website messaging feature? Or, depending on how far along you get, direct contact from the potential employer?
Yes l've had a few of these now. Just blocked/ ignored them but disconcerting

Over the last few days including 3 yesterday I'm getting calls starting ' My name is xyz. I am the local energy advisor for the area '.
I can not decide if actually a person or an automated / AI call.
Each is a different number, most are a mobile.
As with all these calls I just end them but to the last yesterday I stated ' Another one '. The call was cut-off.

I've just read on another forum where someone posted that they replied ' Please tell me how much energy is in a portion of baked beans .... '

After years of selling memorabilia on eBay my dad has told me it's suddenly started asking him for ID such as a passport or driving licence before it will let him access his account. I don't sell on eBay but I've told him it looks suspiciously like a scam to access his personal information.

Has anyone else encountered something similar on eBay?

Ebay do this, I wouldnt click an email link but go through the Ebay website.
I think it started about 12 months ago.

Has anyone else received a random WhatsApp message from Amazon in the last few days? I received the original "We're now on WhatsApp" message almost a year ago and today I got this:

My first instinct was "What in scam's name is this?" but apparently it's genuine. I've no idea how many sales this is going to generate for them?!
I got one this morning about "Prime Big Day Deals is here". It's the first one since their original message.

And by answering those spam calls you have confirmed your phone number is live. The simplest way is not to answer any calls from unknown numbers unless you are expecting something

Indeed. Answering confirms the phone number exists and also will.be answered. Your details will then be sold on again. I never pick up the phone to unknown numbers. If it's important they'll leave a message.

I tell them I‘m glad they called, because my under stairs personal nuclear reactor has sprung a leak.
