She'll need to repeat the journey another 37 times to scoop all the 365s for haulage

i suppose it must make a change from 67005/006 all the time, although you'd think she could pull some strings to get a Class 92 or something.

heavens,

Who’ll be at Sandringham

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

Prince Harry

The Duke of York

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie

The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence

Peter and Autumn Phillips

Savannah Phillips

Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall

The Earl and Countess of Wessex

Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn

Viscount and Viscountess Linley

The Hon Charles Armstrong-Jones and the Hon Margarita Armstrong Jones

Lady Sarah and Daniel Chatto

Master Samuel Chatto and Master Arthur Chatto

Autumn and Savannah Phillips? Have they been following the Geldof school of child naming?

I don't believe it is the first time she has taken a public service - think it happened the other year too.

Can't recall what unit it was but the papers (possibly read it on DM online...) said the Queen sat facing the engine....

Well, you know what the DM are like... I've only ever heard her taking the 365s from Kings Lynn to Kings Cross and no other passenger service trains! Probably meant the driving cab ;)

(imagine if the unit was subbed for a 317, ouch!)

You'll still often hear people saying that, that they do or don't want to sit facing the engine. I always want to say "well, you'd better lay on the floor then..."

I wouldn't say that to the Quee, though, obviously.

Oh of course - it was typically "old-fashioned" reporting, I can recall that much (as of course, years ago, trains were nigh on all LHCS)

The 365 from Kings Lynn to Kings Cross sounds about right, too. IIRC, they took over quite a bit of the one coach what with the security that had to travel as well.

Did she take her Railcard?

Hehe - when I read about the above, I do recall saying to my friend something on the lines of "was she laid face down on the floor then" :P

I believe she has taken a 444 to Portsmouth previously.

Also sounds somewhat familiar to me as well

:)

She'd feel like someone out of Eastenders compared with the one who does the automated accouncements on SWT. "Do try to keep all your luggage with you."

And if she owned a Baker Atlas it would look pretty good... I know she has been bashing the Cambrian with 67s, and a pair of DRS 20's but then again I can't see her on one of our 158s especially unrefurbed unit.

She's also had 47798, 47799 and 31101 on numerous occasions. Prince Charles once had a class 108 DMU on the Cumbrian Coast (in 1984 or 85).

Probably not that many as he's had surgery for a blocked coronary artery so he's probably been under anaesthetic for a fair bit of the evening.

As near as possible to Waterloo East...
At least the Queen seems to have a good taste!
Mind you as a Networker enthusiast-I would think that!

Wouldn't the Queen travel on the DM nearest to King's Lynn, as the train terminates there?

I do think though the 365s are probably the most suitable units for the Monarch to travel in, with two First Class compartments, one for the Royal family, and one for regular First class ticket holders. The 321s and 317s have their First Class in the TCO (I think)
