A polite request to Mojo et al

Hi,

If the answer to this is no, then so be it. I am happy to accept that. But if a solution is possible, it would be greatly appreciated.

Essentially, after the forum's activities on the 27th of March, I had a total of somewhere in the region of 225 PMs in my Control Panel, dating back a full year (I accidentally deleted the first few long ago). However, in the 16 days since I have averaged almost 9 a day - a total of 142! At that rate, come the end of the month I will have run out of space, and will be facing a mass-deletion. Now this I have no problem with. However, if the same rate was to continue again, by the end of June my quota will have been filled again! Is there anything that can be done about this at all, that doesn't involve either (a) deliberately avoiding the PM system, which is never a guaranteed possibility, or (b) a mass deletion every 50 days or so (whose frequency would increase as messages I wish to keep are not deleted, until finally I end up with almost no capacity period)? If there is anything you can do about it, I would be most grateful

Needless to say, the option of copying everything into MS Word would be a long and difficult process and is not ideal.

Why do you feel the need to keep every single one? I would think most people just delete those they have no need to keep as they go along.

Do what I do, keep all those not about Moderation and soon you'll only have 6 messages left!

Could be worse - get yourself on mod and you only get 250 spaces!

I realise that, but if with each round of deletions I found some messages I would like to keep the number available would go down each time. Eventually, it would reach a situation where there would only be about five spaces available, and then a mass deletion of things I would like to keep would ensue - either that, or spend several hours copying everything into MS Word, and even I don't have the patience to do that!

What he said! I delete mine, not that I've had that many ever!

I realise that, but is it really practical to conduct a mass deletion every 50 days - if that? If I wished to keep forty each time, the number of days to the next mass deletion would reduce by four (assuming a rate of 10 per day) each time, and so before too long -at that rate, just 11 months later (338 days) - there would be no capacity left.

In practice though, the chance of it all keeping up is unlikely; maybe come back to this a few days from now and see how things have gone...

I'm sure there aren't so many messages it is essential that you keep - the other 9000+ members seem to manage ok! Try deleting all those 40 once you have read/replied, you may find the world doesn't end...

OK; never mind. I'll stage a mass-deletion of everything from 2010 that I'm don't deem to be necessary, and see how it goes.

I will admit though; the forum I used to go on allowed 50 in and 50 out! Based on the last couple of weeks, I would have beaten that easily!

You can also restrict who can PM you to either All, Contacts and Moderators, Admins only

Add those people who you don't mind and change it to the middle option

I get too many from other people though; look at my quiz threads for instance. I have had very little contact from seagull and yet he needed to send me a PM. What would have happened then if I had chosen to restrict PMs?

I tend to do the same with emails as well, I really ought not to but I tend to keep them for reference purposes even though I don't read the damn things once originally read that is!
