Wish I had a tardis to go back to South Wales in the 1980s (or earlier) with all those vacuum braked and unfitted coal trains.

Some great shots there Janet, the green & cream 141 at York brings back some memories! I've got a few prints of them somewhere which I'll have to dig out one day. Out of interest, are these scans from slides?

just realised: the 141, thought they were all fitted with BSI couplers :? or was it just some, or were they converted for when they rebranded them as provincial to work with sprinters?

David, they are all scanned from slides and run through Photoshop Elements 5 - a lot of them have also had the grain reduced using Neat Image .

Karl, the trouble with sending old stuff rather than newsworthy items for publishing is that you can never tell what publishers are looking for. At least if they are online, anybody interested can make contact and ask for the originals if they are suitable for illustrating a magazine article, for example.

I am currently working on some signalbox pictures from the same sort of time period, will try and get some uploaded within the next week.

All the 141s were built with tightlock couplers and jumper cables for multiple working, these being replaced on refurbishment at Hunslet-Barclay when they gained red/cream colours.
