For your previous psychometric passes to be transferable to a signaller application, I suspect they would have to have been a) achieved in tests identical - not “similar” - to those currently used in the signaller process, b) the scores to be sufficiently high (a pass mark for a TDA role may not be the same as that for a signaller position), c) the scores to still be ‘in date’ (which feels unlikely if you took them over 3 years ago).
In other words, the likelihood is that you’ll have to (re)take all the required psychometric tests for the signaller process from scratch.
The additional factors you mention (current role/grade, internal status, industry experience, intention to downgrade) may well prove advantageous in other parts of the process, but are unlikely to guarantee any psychometric shortcuts per se.
If you’ve previously passed similar/identical tests, I’m sure you’ll be fine. Plenty of TDA staff have made the move over the years. Good luck!
No Kids just a partner that works M-F 8-4 in an office .
Compared to my previous role when I worked far more variable shifts with anything from a start time or a finish time of 02:45 my routine as a signaller disturbs my partners sleep pattern less and we still spend a fair bit of time together .
On Nights I get home about the same time my partner is getting up for work so we can heave breakfast together then I sleep all day .
On day turns , I am up slightly earlier than my partner , but we get time in the evening
The only struggle is weekend working ,you will need to have a partner/family that is comfortable with the fact that sometimes you will work at weekends . This can be hard say if there has been a particularly sunny snap and a friend or family member is planning a last minute BBQ but you have a 12 hour shift to go into instead .
The trade off for this is the money and mid week days off so I can keep on top of housework , do home improvements or stuff like that whilst my other half is at work .
I do sometimes wonder how we would accomodate child care with the work pattern we both have , without help from parents or expensive child care at least some of the time it wouldn't be possible .
anyone know if Arundel position is progressing yet? passed the video interview and then radio silence and the job is still being advertised.

I am just wondering if anyone has just not heard anything back following an interview? It is 3 weeks today and there has been others that have had successful calls and unsuccessful emails in waves but I have not heard anything.
Maybe it depends on location that you have applied for? I had interview 28th May & was told it would be around 2 weeks before any updates - I got phone call on 30th May. Have u contacted them for update?

Yes I was thinking it could be that, i applied for Selby but also said my other options were Poppleton and Strenstall. Speaking to others we were waiting for your groups of interviews to be complete before hearing back so it has just thrown me that others have heard news. I did email yesterday but it seemed to be an automated response saying they the usual no decision yet but will contact as soon as they have one.
Hopefully wont be too much longer!

I have an interview for G6 position in Birmingham on Wednesday, I have previously had signaller interviews before however not been successful,I got told I wasn't detailed enough with answers however used the STAR technique ensuring all were over a couple minute long answers.

Hi, are network rail not advertising externally for jobs currently? I’m used to seeing quite a few in my area (leominster/ludlow) advertised normally but not seen nothing recently? I normally see them on indeed or on the signallers page on the network rail website. Any thoughts?

there have been very few advertised, I've been watching like a hawk for Derbyshire
Some areas appear to have recruited too many pool signallers... and they are still floating around trying to get permanent positions...

If you’re internal just email the LOM, mate. I’ve done it dozens of times over the years and they’re almost always happy to provide a base or copy roster and to answer any other questions (and to arrange box visits).
