So interview went well I think. Had an email saying my application and interview were strong and I should hear back week commencing 18th July.
Last time I didn’t get that email so not sure if that means I made it past an initial application cull? Trying not to think too much into it to be honest, want this job so badly!

Hi everyone,

I've just got my start date for grade 3 signaller. I have a question to ask, not sure if anyone will have the answer.

When I was offered the job I asked if continuing my secondary employment as a retained firefighter would be an issue, they said they would get back to me, and a few days later I had a phone call and the answer was something along the lines of "You have to register it with HR when you join the job". So this leaves me with no idea what their stance is on it, apart from they have a fatigue policy. Is anybody or does anyone know anybody who is retained and also a signaller?

Yeh. There's a guy on my line who is also retained firefighter. He seems to fit it all in.

I've had the same email! I was gutted when they said we have to wait until WC 18. Feels like such a long time to wait for an answer. I had the same email last time and I was placed on a reserve list so I'm so unsure now.

I didn’t get an email like that last time and I didn’t get the job, so not sure if I’m reading to much into it or if it is a sign that I’ve progressed at least a little further?!

I was placed on a reserve list and had a welcomed phone call a few months late offering me a position as a pool signaller on a 12 month ftc.

I then went to signalling school within weeks and got a permanent position whilst there. And I have since moved on to a relief position which I love.

Be aware Park Junction will be closed by this time next year, those who already work there in the main hand jobs lined up.

Cardiff, I’d assume is a talent pool or pool signaller as NWR call it. You based on paper at Cardiff ROC for school admission purposes then expected to apply and secure a role once you pass the course.

I've just been offered a role in park junction as grade 4.

What are your thoughts on accepting the role? I don't wish to be made redundant this time next year. Or do you think ill be moved to another box?

Is anyone waiting to hear from the Grade 2 Entry Level post for North Wales (Hereford, Shrewsbury & Gobowen)?
I'm sure the LOM said I'd be likely to hear within 3 working days, but the interview was 28th June. Not sure whether I should take that as the interview being unsuccessful, I really hope not!

If its a permanent contract they will offer you a closed list of locations to be displaced too and pay you PDTA. They will not make you redundant because the box is closing they can offer you redundancy which a few of the older people on my line did when my original box was resignalled to a ROC.

Going to be honest mate , you likely didn’t get it .

Best you can hope for now is to be put on the reserve list, but even that is a lost cause too .

Take it without a doubt !
It’s very lucky you’ll be out on your butt, SWCC is crying out for staff and will be for the foreseeable so a move it very likely should you wish.

Not true - a search of this thread will show you that most people on the reserve list get an offer Sooner or later.

Congratulations. Park is one of the boxes that I cover so will likely bump into you at some point.

I'm in the same boat as you mate same job same interview date, I just messaged them today and the reply was to not assume you have been unsuccessful and that you will be contacted one way or the other, reading some of the other replys I'm not sure how much faith I put in that answer though!
