Hi, does anyone know the diagram for 950001 and where it's going next. Preferably next time it's going to be in the Glasgow area or close

Network rail only use one multiple unit on a regular basis around the country, which is the class 950. Their other unit is a class 313 which is used for ERTMS testing in the London area only.

It has done in the past, it was certainly running up and down the West Coastway and its branches one day in 2014/5. And yes, it is just a track recording train in a Sprinter package for secondary/tertiary lines that may not be able to accommodate the NMT or loco-hauled trains.

Just passed Craigentinny and saw that one of the power cars from the banana was there, but didn't see any of the carriages. So, that leads to the obvious question: can the MNT operate with a 'normal' power car at one end, and if not then where is the rest of it?

yes. It has done so in the past. The power cars are "just" power cars although they are camera fitted. I am sure I have seen pictures of GC power cars in use on the NMT.

Purpose built as a scientific chugger rather than a passenger chugger conversion to science use.

Just got an answer to my own question! Passed the NMT at York with a yellow power car at both ends.
