Oh no it doesn't (IMO) Although it's good to see another member of the 92 fleet being painted in an updated livery: I'm quite surprised that the "polo mints" have been retained after all these years.

What exactly do the 'polo mints' signify?! I always thought it had something to do with European Passenger Services, that it was their logo or some such?

My guess would be something to do with being a UK loco in use with a Channel Tunnel operater, as all 92s carry them, as did all twelve of the 37/6s and the two 73s, but not the Eurostars or the Class 9 Shuttle locos.

Yeah pretty much, it was the European Passenger Services livery, which was derived from the BR Trainload freight standard triple-grey livery as the locos involved were, IIRC, part of the trainload freight sector, to identify UK locos involved with international operations and the tunnel in one way or another. The three metal segments are intended to represent the cross section of a tunnel receding into the distance.

I must say, this does look smart. I'm not a fan of this livery, I find the red a bit too bright, but the 92 does wear it well.

i would agree with you ... certainly the livery suits the class 92 more than the class 60 IMO...which is odd, since they have similar bodies. just a shame about the "DB" on the cab front.. it looks a little out of place.. and not just on the class 92...

its been mentioned over on the wnxx forum that another class 92 has (or will shortly) been admitted to Toton TMD for repaint. Id suggest joining wnxx and checking the loco number for yourself

DBS have decided that rebranding is now appropriate, particularly as a few of their locos are starting to need paint...

There was a test run in early 2010 but I don't think much has happened since.

About time this class started getting a bit of interest, massively under rated and under used machines.
Anyway,
92031 (the ETS guinea pig) is stored at CE awaiting work.
The mod (I'm told by someone at CE) involves an extra winding in the transformer and a lug removing from the ETS jumper to enable it to slot into UK stock.
Maybe captainbigun can confirm?
