I was wondering what the route was for the LU S-Stock moves from Derby to Amersham. I wanted to try to get somewhere to see it/film it. Thank-You

I know that it goes via the Chiltern Mainline, then somehow gets to Amersham then straight down to Neasden.

Top and tailed by two pairs of 20s, this was at Banbury this evening heading south waiting for a path, at 21.40. Hope this helps.

I passed one today between Stoke Mandeville and Aylesbury at about 00.20. Anyone know what dates they are scheduled to run?

I can get the timings from Amersham south, if it helps, but nothing about the NR times IIRC

Two of my brothers went to Leicester on Tuesday and saw the Class 20's with the LU S-Stock parked on the siding for roughy 30 Minutes to an hour so trains could pass, i hate my brothers becuase they got it on film...LOL!

Just wondering what path does it take from Derby to London?

Derby > Birmingham > Solihull > Banbury > Princes Risborough (reverse) > Aylesbury (reverse) > Amersham > Neasden...

...I think ;). Someone posted the route in a thread on this forum last week, but can't for the life of me find it! :|

Tuesdays move was delivering a unit from Litchurch Lane to the test track at Old Dalby.

The path used to deliver units to Amersham is from Old Dalby and goes via Leicester, Coalville, Tamworth, Tyseley and then as Rich posted.

Also, 20308 will not work a delivery to Amersham as it is not being fitted with trip cocks (according to messages on WNXX) so if it is used it will only be for the Litchurch Lane - Old Dalby trips.

The tube move does not go from Derby to London. There are two moves - 8X23 from Derby-Old Dalby and 8X09 from Old Dalby-London
8X09 goes from Old Dalby-Melton Mowbray-Leicester-Moira-Burton on Trent-Small Heath then via Banbury as previously described. The train leaves Old Dalby @11:42 and doesn't pass through Tamworth HL until around 18:00, so it's a right old stagger (speed limit 35mph).

I believe it misses Leicster. It goes Deby, Tamworth, solihull, banbury, then down the Chiltern mainline.

No it doesn't miss Leicester, both 8X09 and 8X23 go through either before, or after they reverse at Knighton junction for the branch via Moira. I hope this clears up any confusion. No tube trains run Derby-London, it's 8X09 Derby-Old Dalby and 8X23 Old Dalby-London

This is the last time I'm going to say it on this thread, and I'll write in capitals. THERE IS NO TUBE STOCK MOVES FROM DERBY TO LONDON, THEY GO FROM DERBY TO OLD DALBY, AND OLD DALBY TO LONDON.

But its 2 completely separate and unrelated moves!

Derby - Old Dalby moves the units to be tested whilst Old Dalby - London is for when the units are actually being delivered to LUL!

Just because one of the moves happens is no guarantee that the other one will happen!

8X23 ran today from Derby Litchurch Lane to Old Dalby with 20305 & 20304, barrier vehicle, 8 x tube coaches (sets 09 & 10), barrier vehicle and 20301 & 20302 when I saw it at Leicester.

It arrived from the south 28 mins early at 12:42 and departed 2 early at 13:28 after sitting on the avoiding line round the back.

Rumours are about of an 8X09 Old Dalby to Amersham TONIGHT:). Does anyone have any more info on this?

There was mention of it running today but unless its running to a new different path there is no tube stock move today.
