87004 and ETL

According to the main page of WNXX ETL have advisied that "something special" is on the cards for 87004 (SBXL) at Long Marston.
No idea as to what this is yet but let the speculation begin!

Hopefully not just a trip to Bulgaria...theres absolutley no reason why they couldnt reinstate more of them 87002 was awesome the other week on its return. How about Scotrail using them on the Caledonian Sleepers?:roll:

Thats a good call be surprised if virgin went back to the 87 but you never know a good thing till it's gone! Suppose it would give them more scope for taking 390s out of service for work so they have an extra set to cover diagrams where needed

The 87s were sold to BRC a long time ago, there's zero chance of any others returning to the rails here........

As for 87004, all will be revealed in due course (by Europhoenix, ETL are nothing to do with the exports).

Well there you go it is being announced by Euro Phoenix which has othing to do with bulgarian exports.
Also it was advised not every class 87 would go abroad as one or two were to be kept for spares and what not.
But seriously I have no clue but being Brittania.......

87027 will be cut up once it is stripped. 87018 and 87031 have uncertain futures in that there are two options, they are shipped to Bulgaria as they are or stripped and cut up. All three have blown transformers and have been robbed to differing levels, 87027 more so than the other two.

As for 87004 all will be revealed in due course, but it'll be a good few days yet.....

I wont probe but I take it your a little more in the know than others.
To be honest I think everyone out there can wait I think I care a little more about leccy news than Diesel or steam news these days.

The majority of sources reckon a special livery will be applied then she will be shipped off abroad but with the possibilities of different duties.
Either way it's a ray of sunshine on a otherwise cloudy week .
