Hi good old question for you all basically I was trying to do some searching to check what status the whole can fleet wqas in and then came across 86258 and it is said to been converted to a battery electric loco.

Could anyone enlighten me about what this is all about.

Project was dropped and its sitting at Long Marston minus a few roof panels and internal bits of kit. Believe the plan was to install a small diesel engine/generator and a bank of batteries - diesel engine when running would charge the batteries. There was a bit on it in LIAR a couple of years ago.
