Jordy and I recorded the performance of 86101 today between London and Grantham, if anyone is interested...

Code:
Location hh:mm:ss Avg. Notes
Kings Cross 00:00:00 start
Finsbury Pk 00:04:48 pass 31.3
Alexandra Pal 00:06:23 pass 93.3
Potters Bar 00:10:50 pass 105.0
Welwyn GC 00:14:59 pass 109.3
Woolmer Green 00:16:54 pass 110.5
Stevenage 00:18:55 pass 110.7
Hitchin 00:21:28 pass 102.1 TSR @ Stevenage
Biggleswade 00:26:29 pass 110.6
St Neots 00:32:13 pass 110.5
Huntingdon 00:36:01 pass 110.3
Peterborough 00:45:41 pass 109.6
Tallington 00:50:17 pass 110.1
Stoke Jn 00:58:24 pass 110.9
Grantham 01:02:42 stop 79.3
The timings, and especially the average speeds, are only approximate. Overall average speed was 100.9mph

Also on Friday night, someone timed 29.5 minutes for Doncaster-Grantham which is apparently the "best yet" with an average speed of approx 102.7mph. Initial acceleration is better southbound because 86101 is at that end and the driver can see the ammeter. Was very impressive on Friday out of Donny.

with up to 5000hp plus more on its short term rating, an 86 on a short rake would trash a 222, would be a different story in the wet tho! lol
