What do you all think about where the 810s best use is. See Image.

Was also first hand 'nor confirm nor deny' of a better Intercity Lincoln to Nottingham from EMR head of New trains.

In my opinion Also ought to be used on Race days when Market Rasen, Southwell (rolleston) and Uttoxeter are active. Although not yet theorised to market Rasen

Surprised to see Leeds, York and Scarborough on there considering EMR have stops running up there now. It would be useful to have routes like the North Staffs and Skegness cleared for extra capacity like race days and summer extras.

What do T and O stand for in the slide?

Personally, I'd keep the 810s on the Intercity routes as much as possible and focus things like race days on using bumped-up shuttles. Getting clearance for the full list makes sense though.

Where precisely do those 810s come from to work that ?

No-one buys trains to stand around spare in sidings for occasional workings - the fleet will be fully utilised on normal services - so the only way to use 810s off piste is to cancel a normal workings and use something else EMR, in turn, what, as there also no EMR something elses sat around either,ad no dragging 360s won't work even though they only use 12 out of 21. Don't forget even oddballs like peak summer SO Skegness are still planned work (if 810s do in time do that.)

For those that can’t view the image, it appears to be a powerpoint slide showing routes that the Class 810s will [or could] be operated:

Core Routes (T&O)
• London St Pancras to Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield (including via
Corby & Melton) and Lincoln
• Sheffield to Leeds & York
Short Term Routes (T&O)
• Derby - Crewe
• Nottingham - Skegness
Capable Routes (T only - at this stage)
• Oakham - Peterborough
• Nottingham - Grantham - Peterborough - Norwich
• Peterborough - Sleaford - Lincoln - Doncaster
• Doncaster - Peterborough - London Kings Cross
• York - Scarborough
• Leicester - Nuneaton

Interesting that it mentions the GN/GE Joint Line in the last section. How many units are being obtained? That's also a lot of new traction training required.

The fact that They are bi Mode and the middle of this route, midland mainline electrification ( between Nottingham and derby) and also stoke to Crewe is Electrified. Thus I think they would use them to claim the are reducing there carbon footprint across the network. In the Midlands connect Initial work for Lincoln line speed improvement and 800 series traction was used for running times so I think it's something they will want to do. Were they start their service is something else. Stabled in Lincolns sidings?

While I'm not expecting this powerpoint to actually lead to anything tangible - if EMR could run to Leeds and York it would help relieve XC on those lines North of Derby, and could cover for the Northern connect service between Sheffield & Leeds via Wakefield Westgate that never materialised. Do EMR have enough units for this?

noooo not which stabling point do they come from when I said where do they come from ....... i meant how in the fleet of 33 do they come from when the 33 are fully deployed on normal traffic and none spare - the question is where are units to come from then ? mars ? jupiter ?

EMR PR spin - think about it - that is more or less the entire EMR network except short branches or Manchester / Liverpool, it demonstrates nothing except tick a few boxes for publicity purposes

T - Testing
O - Operation

Just my thoughts
