Hi.. does anyone know if LNER 801105 exists, its the only one I cant seem to track, also to complete the set of 801 sightings TIA
It does exist, here is a photo on flickr from September 2020Hi.. does anyone know if LNER 801105 exists, its the only one I cant seem to track, also to complete the set of 801 sightings TIA
Incidentally I just clicked on the first LNER service I saw on Realtime Trains and - I swear, this was genuinely a fluke - guess what unit is booked for it? 801105!

Oops! Misread the unit number...800105 unfortunately, rather than 801105

thank you, thought it did,, either I keep missing it, as I'm not seeing any tops history for 801105, all the others have tops
hahahhaaha I started to crack open a tin then in celebration,, then its 800105.. oh well.. thanks for your reply..lol800105 unfortunately, rather than 801105
Some of the Azumas have been going in for new luggage racks over the past few months - I wonder if it could be one of those.I haven't kept up with the LNER 800s/801s since the lockdown, in regard to the latest (albeit 6 weeks ago) Flickr image at Newton Aycliffe, could this suggest the unit is out of service at the factory?
That's the problem they are all the blooming same! They all look the same bar the Scottish 800.hahahhaaha I started to crack open a tin then in celebration,, then its 800105.. oh well.. thanks for your reply..lol

That is the nature of a homogeneous fleet. And, to be fair, all the LNER IC125s looked the same as well. That's the problem they are all the blooming same! They all look the same bar the Scottish 800.
That'll be those awful hard Fainsa seats they have. Definitely a downgrade from what we have before on the East Coast unfortunately...Im not a fan.. been on two of them,, was glad to get off
Same here although the red inside makes them seem a little nicer than the uber clinical GWR ones. Thanks everyone,,,

They're decent enough trains in my opinion, but it feels like they've been done on the cheap. (And, in their typical fashion, DfT screwed up the specification and didn't require them to have a high standard of ride quality - so they are, for want of a better description, bumpy as all hell...)

You may like to know that if you go to https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/ and type in the unit number into the "Quick Search" box at the top right of the page, you can get a list of allocations for that unit on that day.
Nothing appears for 105 at the moment, but if you keep trying, maybe something will appear.
Also it's worth noting the information contained there is not perfect and may well not take account of things like last minute set swaps.

If 800/801s had nice seats and did 140Mph then I'd like them and call them revolutionary.
But in their current state, it's a massive step backwards on what we had.
The 125s had variants. 43238 the NRM and the sadly killed one (43300) had differences to rest to name just a few.
Yep, the fainsa seats are horrible, anyone who calls them comfy in an 80x is clearly used to sitting on the floor!
Done on the cheap, wrong spec? Isn't that pretty much every new train these days?
Bumpy ride? Not suprised, from what I recall they're quite a fidgety ride aren't they?
I want my IC 225 back please, oh and paint the whole thing in swallow too!
I agree they are a backward step in passenger comfort which is unacceptable especially on long distance ‘flagship’ services. A few days ago I changed from one onto a 20 year old Scotrail Turbostar at Edinburgh. I know which I found more comfortable to travel on, and that says it all really!
They're just a tube with windows. Presumably the comfort issue could be resolved simply by swapping the seats.
I went on a GWR 802 once from Slough to Oxford and by the end my behind was numb and my back ached a lot. I then went on a 165 from Oxford back to Didcot and I thought ooh this is much more comfy and my pain just disappeared as the journey went on. By the time I got back to Didicot I left feeling refreshed after having a nice comfy proper seat.I agree they are a backward step in passenger comfort which is unacceptable especially on long distance ‘flagship’ services. I've been on a 385 and can say they are about the same as an 800 in terms of comfort. I bet in about 10 years time the seats on 80xs will be had it and they will need to replace them with a better seat. Fingers crossed anyways. Also, I bet these trains don't last 30 or 40 years like their predecessors.I can well imagine. It's not acceptable for the latest flagship intercity train to offer a lesser standard of comfort than an ageing regional DMU, it just isn't. Another interesting comparision is with the 385's which I often change onto at Edinburgh. In terms of passenger comfort and overall ambience there's very little betwen them.
Suffered severe wheel flats and was stabled at Ferme Park, before being moved to Doncaster, been there for a while.Appreciate this is a different number, but the LNER Azuma thread seems locked. Does anyone know where 801221 is at the moment? Doesn’t seem to have been out for a few months?
It’s been sat in the yard next to the Hertford line at Bounds Green with the nose cone open on the London end for the last fortnightSuffered severe wheel flats and was stabled at Ferme Park, before being moved to Doncaster, been there for a while.
Ahhhh apologies, its certainly wheel flats or needing repairs following an animal strikeIt’s been sat in the yard next to the Hertford line at Bounds Green with the nose cone open on the London end for the last fortnight
Honestly thought you were talking about the Pendolino there! Obviously it's all subjective, but I do find the AT300s (and Voyagers) to be far more adequate than the Alstom offering. They're just a tube with windows.
I couldn't disagree more. The only thing they have over a Pendolino is bigger windows.Honestly thought you were talking about the Pendolino there! Obviously it's all subjective, but I do find the AT300s (and Voyagers) to be far more adequate than the Alstom offering.
