80,000 at Wembley tonight

Does the Olympic Stadium have any restrictions on the number of major events that it's allowed to hold?

I do not believe so, but it is possible West Ham have some sort of exclusivity deal.

Cardiff and Twickenham are much worse than Wembley in my experience for this kind of thing! At least at Wembley you have multiple underground lines with long trains and a frequent service and decent mainline rail services too. Where as at Cardiff and Twickenham you only really have the one railway station (though at Twickenham they do often provide buses to Hounslow for the undeground too). Had a fantastic experience at the Olympic Stadium though - walked straight onto a tube train after the final whistle of one of the Rugby World cup games without need for any queuing at all.

Wouldn't more people hang around in the area after matches at Cardiff and Twickenham though? The Millennium Stadium is right in the centre of Cardiff, with plenty of decent pubs and restaurants in the area.

By contrast, the area around Wembley stadium is less inviting, so most people would rather go into town for a post match drink.

People do hang around in Cardiff after a match but Cardiff has fewer stations, the service is far less frequent and trains shorter in length than those serving Wembley.

Hillingdon Tube is a good P&R for Wembley, being just off the M40/A40 plus you're going against majority of the traffic, ideal for quick getaways after a Wembley event. If only using Tube to/from Central London, then head to in the other direction to Harrow then double back to Central London, purchasing a Travelcard comes in handy for this.

That was my route when I lived in Oxford. On a Saturday I would take the Oxford Tube but on a Sunday I would drive as it was reasonably easy to park quite close to Hillingdon station.

April 29th will be an interesting one for our capitals transport with 90,000 at Wembley for the Joshua fight and the drink fest that is the Army v Navy Rugby at Twickenham on the same day

Fortunately Wembley and Twickenham are on opposite sides of London, so the main flows of people will be in different directions.

The numbers travelling will be less than those coming into London on a normal weekday rush hour, so the system should be able to cope.

Not the first time something like this has happened and it won't be the last. Army V Navy won't be a sell out at Twickenham - probably around 50,000 I'd have thought.

This is generally what happens at Murrayfield, people go into town afterwards, though the staff and police at Haymarket do a fine job with the queueing system. I'm not sure how it's changed with the new station building, though.

I just hope SWT see sense and put on additional coaches to the late evening services back towards Salisbury [due to the number of army camps in this area].

Absolutely there will be a considerable % who don't see a ball all day. Also with the boxing there won't be a % of the crowd who leave early unlike other other sports plus of course with Boxing you don't know how long it will last.
