Is there any update on what the plan is with this unit?

In April 2024 there were suggestions on another thread that EMR were going to trial it but I don’t recall seeing anything since.

It came on my radar that it’s been out and about again recently per this video:

Are these test runs a regular thing at the moment?

There have been test runs for some time now, usually a light locomotive is sent to 'Worcester Middle Siding' to act as a thunderbird. The last time I saw the unit it stopped at platform two at Bromsgrove Station , raised its pantograph then proceeded up the Lickey.

It's not really, one coach is a Board Room! Maybe it will be one of the Rail 200 Exhibition Trains...
