Catch this one most days. Instead of under 50 mins to Gloucester this one takes 57 mins.

For some reason, it seems to wait for about 7-8 mins at STJ. Either that or train goes slowly to STJ from Newport (all the same I guess).

Never seen any other train coming that its waiting for or anything. And after all, it carries on towards Caldicot so there shouldnt be any effect to anything coming/going into the Severn Tunnel, should there?

Anyone know - just out of interest?

You haven't made it very clear to which train you are referring. What is 723 intended to mean ?

He means the 07:23 departure from Newport.

It's the 07:05 Cardiff Central - Cheltenham Spa.

As the Planner says, the train has a 4 minute pathing allowance added between Newport and Severn Tunnel Junction (STJ) to allow for the westbound HST crossing the tracks at Severn Tunnel Junction.

Ah thanks. I just wondered...

Thinking about it if my train is going east then train coming out of the tunnel heading west has got to cross the tracks....
