Not particularly soon. Mid next year has been suggested as a potential timeframe. The 701/5s are not needed in passenger service to withdraw the 455s which is the current focus.
701050 entered service recently
701022 went to Marchwood 16.05.24 (for the second visit there), 710038 went to Marchwood 12.06.24 (for the second visit there): There have been no reports of either of them leaving since, so pretty sure they are still there. But something is due to move out today (19.11.25) so it will be interesting to see what.
Ah right, But when the full fleet comes into service, what with both the 701/0s and 701/5s mainly be concentrated on if you know? Like just the general routes both will do.

There are fifteen 701/0s nowhere near London. These are :-
701s
Oh of course the day I finish 5 new units in a single day another one springs out, nice to see I believe that should be 1/3 out now as correct me if wrong, that should be number 30 into use.
I wouldn't count 028 though, as that unit just seen service for a few days then it disappeared from traffic

I’m unsure why you consider Eastleigh TRMSD as an SWR facility? Yes it’s adjacent to the mainline, but it wouldn’t normally be considered as an SWR location. Does anyone know if the units are worked on while there?
I think of Eastleigh as more to do with the operational railway than the storage locations - Bicester, Long Marston and Marchwood. I feel Eastleigh has about as much to do with commissioning as Wimbledon Park Depot does - some 701s have been run to Wimbledon Park Depot from Eastleigh under their own power (not dragged).
