Noticed that automated ticket machine offers 7 day season tickets. Am I right in saying you don't need a photocard in this case then?

You need a photocard.

Some machines will ask you to input your photocard number as part of the buying process, others will leave a space for you to write it on yourself in ink. The machine warns you that your ticket is not valid without the photocard number on it, in ink.

Thanks. So if I rock up at manned booth with passport photo how long to sort it out?

EDIT: So photocard is separate to the actual ticket?

Yes - the photocard is pink as shown below. The ticket (orange) has the photocard number printed on the top right corner.
Once you have the photocard you can type or write in the number yourself when buying weekly tickets from the machine.

It should only take 5 minutes to make up - take a passport photo and some ID to the ticket office.
