7 car class 385s

I've been out and about today and I've noticed a couple of ScotRail class 385s running in 7 car formation, i.e. one 4 car and one 3 car. I'm guessing that this is because of the disruption today but it got me thinking that this is probably the best way to go for the Edinburgh to Glasgow route.

I feel that the current situation with two first class coaches is wasteful. Perhaps running as a 7 car would match the demand by providing only one first class compartment? This could free the 4 cars to cover busier 3 car services.

Does anyone know if they are actually operating 7 car formations regularly please?

There are a few 7 car workings during the peaks between Queen Street and Edinburgh, there have been for some time but it has now been expanded due to the off peak fares trial. Where there is a shortage of 4 car units then a 3 car may substitute as well.
