Well it wasn't at Heworth when I passed at 17.00. I think it may have stopped around Park Lane judging by the Network Rail guys walking the track.
I think it may have derailed to the six foot judging by the marks on the sleepers and the smashed yellow point cover.

It stopped just around the bend from Gateshead Stadium Metro.
Luckily it wasn't a pacer or other passenger train.
Line was still closed when I went past an hour or so ago.

Lines re-opened at 0755 with a speed restriction on the Down Line. The service should get back to normal over the course of the day and it'll then be time to wait for the RAIB comments.

Northern services are also still all over the place although they do seem to be returning to relative normality.
Network Rail are still on site, and I believe the RAIB are also still up here (maybe going straight to the Metro incident?).
