6LDA Group Preserving 26004 and 26024. Help required.

I am the Treasurer of the 6LDA group which owns 26004 and 26024. You can contact me at: bkilgallon@blueyonder.co.uk

I am looking for like minded enthusiasts to join the 6LDA group and help contribute towards the full restoration of 26004.

26004 and 024 were allocated to Haymarket depot for most of their life. They are now based at Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway, near Edinburgh.

We are currently renovating the spare bogies that will give both 004 and 024 a full set of restored bogies. But we need more funds to complete 26004's restoration. Although work on 26004 is progressing well, restoration to full working order will require extra funding.

We are organising ONCE MONTHLY "Working Sundays", where new and old
6LDA members are invited to get their hands dirty by helping with the bogie restoration.

We are a friendly group. Most weekends you will find Stuart Sellar, Alasdair Cowan and John Howell applying elbow grease! Feel free to come along and join in with the restoration. If you are interested in participating, please contact me and I will make sure that one of the team will be there to meet you!

Restoration of a diesel is extremely costly!
So if there are any enthusiasts willing to help fund 26004 we would love to hear from you.

This link below shows a more uptodate pic. There is a long way to go! But we have a very good team. Alasdair, Stuart and John apply much elbow grease!! Currently working on the spare bogies.

I have to say I am full of admiration for the guys at Bo'ness, the work done on D5310 by the team there is to a very high standard and it's been a pleasure to work on and crew this last year. These guys can be relied on to do a good job on these other two examples of the class. If you like type 2s and aren't supporting another restoration group already bung 'em a few quid.

Thank you for the praise. Alasdair Cowan and Stuart Sellar are putting a huge amount of time on 26004 and 26024. 6LDA group owns these 2 locos. Matt Stoddon was the owner and was responsible for an excellent restoration of D5310(26010).

Work is currently focussed on the restoration of all the bogies owned by the
6LDA Group. Once these are restored then work begins in earnest on a thorough restoration of 26004 to mainline standards. Although it is not intended to run on the mainline.

Are you able to spare some of your time to help restore 26004 at Boness?
